A fire broke out at a Moreno Valley apartment complex around 7pm Wednesday night. Firefighters arrived in the 13200 block of Heacock street to find smoke and fire coming from the attic of the complex. A second and third alarm was requested, bringing dozens of firefighters to the scene. In total, eleven engines, three trucks and five chiefs responded to the fire.
All residents were evacuated safely, Red Cross was called in to assist with forty adults and thirty children that were displaced from the fire. Four units of the complex were destroyed, five had fire damage and the rest of the units in the building had water damage along with utilities shut off. Firefighters had the fire knocked down with an hour and the cause is under investigation.
