Riverside County Firefighters responded to a commercial strip mall on fire Wednesday evening in Jurupa Valley. The call came in just after 5pm. The first arriving units reported heavy smoke coming from the Mercados La Noria market in the 5700 block of Mission Boulevard. The fire quickly spread to nearby businesses and a third and fourth alarm was called bringing in dozens of resources.
It took dozens of firefighters several hours to knock down the fire. At least 1 person was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. Parts of the building appear to be a total loss. The cause has been ruled as accidental. Riverside County Fire says the blaze was started by cooking.
