A multi-vehicle pileup closed the Westbound 10 freeway in Yucaipa for at least 3 hours. The closure caused a major back up for hours in the area. The crashes were reported on the westbound 10 at Live Oak Canyon Road around 10:15pm. At least 20 cars were involved. Several people sustained injuries and had to be transported to local hospitals via ambulance.
Icy and wet roads may have caused the crashes. CHP began opening up the interstate around 1am as more snow fell in the area.
