A female hiker died after falling 500 to 700 feet down the Mt Baldy Bowl. It happened Sunday. San Bernardino County Sheriff Dispatch received a call from the Office of Emergency Services after an SOS message was sent from a Garmin InReach device. A Sheriff helicopter was sent to the coordinates from the device.
They located other hikers attempting to assist the female and a paramedic was lowered to the victim. A hoist helicopter arrived, but the woman had already succumbed to her injuries. Once the weather cleared, the woman was flown to the San Bernardino County Coroner’s office.
