Dangerous Winds Blow Over Big Rigs and Topple Trees

The Inland Empire got hit with its first big Santa Ana windstorm of the season. Some areas recorded gusts of over 50mph. The chaos started in time for the Wednesday morning commute when a big rig got blown over in Rancho Cucamonga, leaning precariously against the cement wall on the Day Creek bridge. Winds continued to blow, threatening to knock the big rig over onto the street below. Day Creek was closed until the rig could be removed.

A short time later, two big rigs blew over on the WB 210 transition road from the 15 freeway. Another one was reported along the southbound lanes of the 15 near Duncan Canyon Road.

City work crews spent much of the day cleaning up tree branches in the roadways of Rancho Cucamonga. Several trees went down across the north eastern part of the city, blocking sidewalks and streets as gusty winds continued to blow for most of the day.
