Two Burned in Lake Elsinore Gas Leak Explosion

Two workers were burned after a gas leak explosion at the Lake Elsinore Storm Stadium. Both victims were rushed to area hospitals. They had been working on a gas leak near the locker room when the explosion happened around 4:21pm Friday afternoon. The sprinkler system suppressed the flames. Storm baseball players were preparing for a Friday night game against the 66’ers.

All staff and players were evacuated from the building. None of the players or staff were hurt in the explosion. The stadium was mostly empty as spectators had not yet arrived for the game. Friday nights game and another set for Saturday night were both cancelled. The gas was shut off to the building.
