Deputy Brett Harris was involved in an on-duty crash early Friday morning while responding to call. The crash happened at the intersection of Esplanade and State Streets in San Jacinto at 2:16am. Deputy Harris was rushed to a local hospital. Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco announced Harris’ death Sunday morning in statement.
Deputy Harris was assigned to the Hemet Station. In his final act of Service Above Self, Deputy Harris’ final wish was to donate his organs so others may live. The family is currently working with the hospital to make this happen.
Just a few weeks ago, Deputy Andrew Davidson was killed in an off-duty motorcycle crash in Riverside. Two other deputies were shot while responding to calls. In total, the department has lost four deputies in the last six months.
