The Pomona Police Major Crimes Task Force raided six locations suspected of being illegal gambling casinos. The raids took place early Wednesday morning across the city of Pomona. Nine people were taken into custody in connection with the illegal casinos. Police seized and destroyed more than 55 gambling machines. They also recovered an undisclosed amount of money.
The raids are part of an ongoing problem in Pomona. Some neighbors had no idea one of the locations in a residential neighborhood was being used as an illegal casino. The location in the 800 block of Phillips Boulevard is just feet away from Alcott Elementary School. Police also “red-tagged” the locations.
