The San Bernardino National Forest is closed under a temporary order due to the extreme weather until March 16th. The forest-wide closure was enacted after Governor Gavin Newsom’s state of emergency declaration. The purpose of the closure is to allow emergency responders access to roads on the mountain. Officials do not want non-residents causing more problems than what they are already dealing with.

Residents of the area are exempt from the closure order. Dozens of state funded resources are on the mountain including CAL Fire task forces and the national guard supporting the efforts to get food to residents and help clear roads. The closure is officially in effect from 11:59pm March 3rd to 11:59pm March 16.
