A vacant banquet hall went up in flames Monday night in San Bernardino. San Bernardino County firefighters arrived at the business in the 1700 block of North Mt Vernon Avenue just before 10pm and found heavy smoke coming from the building. A short time later flames began coming through the roof. For safety reasons, firefighters moved to a defensive posture, with all crews being pulled off the roof and out of the interior of the building.
A second alarm was called bringing more resources. Crews continued to fight the blaze for over an hour. The cause of the fire remains under investigation
