Julian Sands, a 65-year old british actor who has appeared in numerous television shows and movies is missing in Mt Baldy. Sands went for a hike last week and never returned. He was reported missing by his family on Friday evening. Searchers have been on the ground in the area but conditions on the mountain have made it difficult. There is risk of avalanches and extremely icy conditions makes it difficult to hike.
The San Bernardino Sheriff aviation unit has periodically had a helicopter flying around the area. Mt Baldy has seen several inches of snow in the last few days from recent storms. Sands car, a Volvo station wagon was towed away from the Manker Flats area where he parked it last week.
