A man was shot and killed on the 215 freeway in Moreno Valley on New Year’s eve. CHP officers located a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had stopped in the center divider of the southbound freeway lanes. They also found a black male adult in the driver seat who had sustained several gunshot wounds. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident happened around 10:30pm Saturday night near Cactus Avenue.
CHP closed the southbound lanes of the 215 freeway near the scene for several hours while they investigated. Based on witness statements, CHP says the suspect vehicle was a black sedan that fled the scene southbound after the shooting. The identity of the male victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Anyone with information is asked to contact the California Highway Patrol Inland Division.
