Rialto Police Officers Shoot Armed Man at Police Station

A man armed with an AR-15 style rifle was shot at the Rialto Police department Monday afternoon. Police say a man followed an officer through a secured gate around 4:3opm and got out of a black dodge charger. He approached the police vehicle then turned and ran the other direction pointing the AR-15 at the officer. The officer reacted and took the suspect down firing from his service weapon shots. The suspect survived the shooting and was taken to a hospital by Paramedics. Police identified the weapon as a replica paintball gun. The suspect was identified as 35-year old Gunther Elizalde Tellez of San Bernardino.

Police closed off a section of their secured parking lot while they investigated the crime scene. Rialto Police Chief Mark Kling said he in his 34-year history in law enforcement never thought an armed man would be able to come into the parking lot and point a weapon at officers.
