9/11 Memorial Ceremony Held in Corona

Several events across the Inland Empire marked the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The Chamber of Commerce in Corona hosted a 9/11 remembrance ceremony that began at 5am with volunteers reading every single name of the victims that died in the attacks.

Volunteers also laid out 2,977 flags, each with the name of a victim on the front lawn of the historic Civic Center. A formal ceremony with the singing of the National Anthem and speakers addressing the crowd also took place. The Corona Fire Department used one of their ladder trucks to raise a large American flag. There were also several moments silence held for the precise times a plane crashed into the World Trade Centers, the Pentagon and the field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The flags will remain under watch at the Civic Center through Tuesday.
