A burglar was shot and killed by a resident at an apartment complex in Riverside early Wednesday morning. The shooting happened around 1:45am at the Windemere Apartments in the 5900 block of Sycamore Canyon Boulevard.
According to police, both the burglar and resident fired shots. The burglar died from his injuries and the resident sustained gunshots to the lower body, but is expected to survive. A sheriff helicopter from the Riverside Sheriff department was called in to assist in searching for a possible second burglar involved. That search turned up empty.
