Rancho Cucamonga Deputy Shot Released from the Hospital

A Rancho Cucamonga Deputy who was shot in July has been released from the hospital. Deputy Marcus Mason visited the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff station for the first time since the shooting. A crowd of his colleagues, allied law enforcement agencies and other supporters welcomed him as he got out of a vehicle into a waiting wheelchair.

Marcus was shot in the 5700 block of Sycamore Court in Rancho Cucamonga after responding to a call of a suspicious vehicle on Saturday night, July 16th . His captain credits the help of the Ontario Police department helicopter for getting Mason loaded up and enroute to Pomona Valley Medical Center within twelve minutes of the shooting. Parole Nicholas Campbell from Fresno was located in the area and arrested for shooting Deputy Mason.

Mason says he will spend time at home to continue his recovery process. It is unknown when he will return to work.
