A pilot put a small plane down on the Eastbound 91 Freeway in Corona Tuesday afternoon. The pilot reported having a loss of engine power around 12:30pm and decided to land on the freeway in Corona. He clipped a pick-up truck before the plane caught fire. Bystanders were quickly help the pilot get out of the plane.

The Corona Fire Department responded and put out the fire. CHP says due to the pilot’s navigational skills, no one on the ground was hurt. They also credit light traffic on the freeway. The pilot was not hurt and is talking with FAA investigators. No one was hurt in the pick up truck either. Three lanes of the 91 Freeway at Lincoln avenue were to remain closed throughout the afternoon while the FAA and NTSB conducts their investigation.
