Heavy rains Sunday forced the closure of Highway 38 in the San Bernardino Mountains. Mud and debris flows in several areas made the road impassible. Several vehicles also became stuck including a Caltrans truck.
Caltrans spent the afternoon cleaning up mud and debris. Highway 38 was shut down in both directions. The closure begins at Valley of the Falls at the bottom of the mountain and Lake Williams at the top of mountain. The closure was expected for at least 24 hours.
