36-year old Joal Colyer and 24-year old Trevor Colyer have both been arrested on arson charges in connection with the fire.
A fast moving fire burned two structures and twenty-eight acres Friday evening. The fire broke out around 5pm off of Highway 173 and Highway 138 near Hesperia. There were initial reports of an armed suspect in the area delaying firefighting efforts. That situation was quickly handled by law enforcement.
Firefighters got to work battling the flames from the ground and air. Traffic along Highway 173 was shut down and by 7pm, CHP officers were escorting motorists south of Lake Silverwood on Highway 138. Firefighters remained at the scene overnight to mop up hot spots. The cause is under investigation.
