A fire that started during Wednesday night’s lightning storm flared up near Mt Baldy Friday afternoon. Smoke could be seen coming from the mountain around 2pm. The fire was mapped at 3.5 acres. Fire crews from the United Department of Forestry responded and were assisted from San Bernardino County and Los Angeles County Fire.

The fire burned up the side of a mountain in rugged terrain. Three helicopters and at least one tanker worked to stop the flames. The aerial firefight was successful and the fire appeared to be contained by Friday afternoon. Ground crews will continue to remain at the scene and monitor the fire. No structures were threatened.
