Officials have lifted evacuations and reopened Highway 2 in the area of the Sheep Fire. The fire was downgraded to 865 total acres with 85% containment.
Caltrans crews worked to repair signage and guardrails along Highway 2 that sustained damage in the fire. Motorists traveling through the area are asked to exercise caution as crews are still working. Earlier in the week, Verizon brought in a temporary cellular site to restore service the area after the fire caused a major outage.
