Two Rialto Assistant Principals Arrested on Felony Child Abuse Charges

Two Carter High School assistant principals are facing child abuse charges after failing to report a sexual assault to police. The investigation began last week after Rialto Police were notified of a sexual battery of a 15-year old female. Detectives learned a 17-year old student had sexually assaulted the female over period of three months.

As the investigation continued, it was learned the same 17-year old assaulted two other victims. One of the victims first reported the assault back in September 2021 to both vice principals at the school. The vice principals failed to report the incident to Rialto Police. School officials are mandated by law to report such crimes to police immediately. David Yang and Natasha Harris were both taken into custody at Carter High School in Rialto on Wednesday afternoon.

The district attorney is charging both Yang and Harris with 273a(a) pc- child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death. They have also been been charged with a misdemeanor count of failure of mandated reporter to report child abuse or neglect. The 17-year old juvenile has also been taken into custody for the sexual assaults.
