Assault Suspect Dies in Riverside Sheriff Custody After Being Tased

Riverside Sheriff Deputies in Jurupa Valley were called to the parking lot of a Burger King in the 6000 block of Valley Way for an assault at 11:54am Saturday. When the deputies arrived, they found a male assaulting someone in a parked vehicle. Multiple attempts were made to stop the altercation.

A taser was used on the suspect and he was taken into custody. According to a Sheriff press release, shortly after being detained, the suspect became unresponsive. Paramedics were called and the suspect was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators from the the Riverside County Force Investigations Detail responded and assumed the investigation.
