Hundreds of people flocked to Wrightwood on Christmas Day to play in the snow and ski at the Mountain High Resorts. Highway 2 saw huge traffic delays in both directions going through Wrightwood and up to the resorts.

As the evening temperatures fell and the roads iced up, cars began to stuck. One person reportedly ran out of gas and for a time, a tow truck was unable to access the driver in distress. CHP also reported one of their units became stuck for a time.

Overnight more snow fell and Caltrans set up a chain control checkpoint. They also spent the night plowing the roads to keep them passable.
