A large sinkhole swallowed one of the downbound lanes of Highway 18 below Crestline Thursday night. CHP and Caltrans received the report around 9:3opm after heavy rains moved through the area.
Caltrans deemed the road unstable and shutdown both directions of the highway. According to Caltrans, the road could take days to fix. Highway 18 is closed near Old Waterman Canyon in San Bernardino and below Crestline up on the mountain.
