A vacant house that was built in the 1800’s went up in flames in Ontario Thursday night. The fire started was reported just after 8pm in the 100 block of South Vine Avenue. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a vintage vacant house. The blaze was knocked down within an hour. The cause is under investigation.

The city was in the process of restoring the old home and preserving its history. The house was built around 1892 and originally owned by William Barton Fallis, an Ontario businessman in the early 1900’s. Fallis and his brother owned a department store in Ontario.
