Riverside Teacher Suspended After Performing Native Dance

A math teacher in the Riverside Unified School District was suspended after a video of her performing a native dance went viral. The video was recorded by a student of Native American descent.

The teacher is seen in the video performing a native war dance and wearing a paper headdress. Many Native Americans came out at a school board meeting saying they found the teachers performance offensive. The teacher, who works at North High School has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation by the district.
