Governor Gavin Newsom has announced California will become the first state in the nation to mandate COVID-19 vaccines for all students starting at kindergarten age through high school. Once the vaccines receive full approval from the FDA, all students attending school will be required to get the shot. There is already a mandate in place for teachers and other staff.
Students in California schools are already required to be vaccinated against other viruses such as Polio, measles and Hepatitis B.
