Two San Bernardino Police Officers Shot, Suspect Killed

Two San Bernardino Police officers were shot in Highland Wednesday afternoon. They were part of a team surveilling a suspect who just a day earlier shot a San Bernardino County Sheriff Deputy. As the officers approached the suspect, he got out of a car and began firing at the officers from a handgun. Two officers were struck by the gunfire. Other officers returned fire killing the suspect. The shooting happened just before 4pm near Baseline and Victoria Streets.

San Bernardino Police Chief Eric McBride updates the media on the condition of the police officers and status of the suspect.

The officers were rushed to Loma Linda Medical Center where one of them underwent surgery. Both officers are expected to survive their injuries.

The suspect was identified as a known gang member with a violent criminal history. He also had warrants out for his arrest.
