CHP officers opened fire on a suspect they were chasing after he tried to ram several patrol vehicles. The pursuit started early Wednesday morning after a suspect stole a flatbed truck from a construction company.
Officers located the truck in the Colton area and the chase was on. The driver went on several freeways, many times driving in the opposite lanes going head on with traffic and endangering the public. San Bernardino CHP terminated the pursuit and the San Bernardino Sheriff Helicopter continued to follow the suspect.

The suspect continued on the Westbound 10 Freeway in the Eastbound lanes. CHP officers from the Rancho Cucamonga office set up a traffic break, shutting down the freeway at Sierra Avenue in Fontana to keep as many vehicles as possible from encountering the suspect. As the suspect approached the road block, he attempted a U-turn but was boxed in by the units. He began ramming CHP cars at which point, officers opened fire, killing the suspect. The 10 Freeway in Fontana was shut down for hours, well into the day and past the morning commute for the investigation.
