Transient Arrested for Riverside Fatal Stabbing

A transient was arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman in Riverside. The attack happened around 7:30am Saturday morning on Golden Avenue. Paramedics and police officers located a woman suffering from stab wounds. She was identified as 64-year old Ke Chieh Meng.

A short time later Riverside Police dispatch received reports of a suspicious female transient wandering through yards. 23-year old Darlene Stephanie Montoya, a transient from Monterey Park was detained.

It was later learned during the investigation, Meng was walking her two dogs along Golden Avenue when she was randomly attacked by Montoya. Montoya was previously arrested for attacking another woman with a skateboard near Tyler avenue and the 91 freeway on Tuesday, March 30th. She had been released due to the emergency COVID-19 bail schedule.

Police have booked Montoya in jail for murder.
