Storms Bring Rain and Snow

The first of three winter storms have hit the Inland Empire. Snow fell Saturday afternoon and into the evening in the local mountains. Chain control checkpoints were set-up on all of the major roadways leading into Wrightwood, Lake Arrowhead, Big Bear and Running Springs.

Snow also fell Saturday evening at the 3,700-foot level in the Cajon Pass. CHP escorted Cal Trans snow plows up and down the pass all evening. At times, it was slow going for traffic on the 15 freeway.

The second of the three storms is expected to hit the area Sunday night into Monday. Meteorologists predict the third storm will have the most significant rainfall. It is expected to arrive on Wednesday.
