CHP officers are searching for the driver of a vehicle who fled the scene after causing a deadly crash on westbound Interstate 10 early Sunday morning.
A black Honda Accord was disabled in the number 4 lane near Kellogg Drive. A Chevy Malibu rear ended the Accord causing it to strike three people and overturn. The three people were standing outside of the Accord at the time of the collision.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The Malibu driver got out of his vehicle and fled across the freeway. Moments later, a Chevrolet Cruze collided with the Malibu. That driver was transported to a local hospital.
The Westbound lanes of the freeway were closed for the traffic investigation.
