San Bernardino Police were in the area of Baseline and Elm streets in Highland on Tuesday afternoon looking for Shyheed Robert Boyd who is wanted in a recent homicide. Officers had an active warrant for Boyd. When they contacted him, Boyd ran, then turned around and shot at officers.
One officer was struck and injured as other officers returned fire striking and killing Boyd. The officer was transported to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Police say Boyd is responsible for the murder of Donte Dejuan Carr on December 9th, 2020. The San Bernardino Sheriff Department is handling the officer-involved shooting investigation.
