El Dorado Fire Flares Up Prompting New Evacuations

A flare-up on the El Dorado fire caused new evacuations and sent firefighters scrambling to save three mountain communities Wednesday afternoon. Red Flag wind conditions sent flames racing towards the communities of Forest Falls, Mountain Home Village and Angelus Oaks. The fire jumped Highway 38 in multiple locations.

Mandatory evacuations were ordered in the early afternoon as resources poured into the mountain communities. Firefighters were able to make a strong stand protecting structures. Winds pushed the flames higher up the mountain into brush that hasn’t burned in years.

As of Thursday evening, the El Dorado fire has burned 12,474 acres. It started near Yucaipa on Saturday after a gender reveal display malfunctioned.
