A brushfire broke out in the Jurupa Hills Saturday afternoon. The fire was named the “Karen Fire” because it started off of Karen Lane and Armstrong Street. The fire threatened several homes; however, firefighters were able to quickly position resources to protect structures.
225 firefighters from Riverside County Fire and San Bernardino County Fire were able to contain the blaze to 275 acres. The fire was 97% contained by Sunday night.
A total of 6 air tankers and at least 2 helicopters dropped water and fire retardant to help stop the blaze.
