Just a few weeks after reopening, bars in Riverside County have been forced to close as Coronavirus cases are spiking in the county. Riverside County currently has over 16,000 confirmed positive cases of Coronavirus.
The shutdown comes as Governor Gavin Newsome ordered 7 other counties to close their bars. San Bernardino and Riverside were on the recommendation list.
“People don’t social distance well after a couple of drinks, and it’s one of the hardest environments to trace contacts in,” said Public Health Officer, Dr. Cameron Kaiser.
Kaiser says he hopes the closure is only temporary and other closures won’t be needed. The closure comes just days before the 4th of July holiday.
