The remains of Sreenivas “Sree” Mokkapati have been found on Mt. Baldy. Mokkapati went missing in December which prompted a weeklong search by 126 search and rescue team members in treacherous conditions. During the search, San Bernardino Sheriff Search and Rescue Team member Tim Staples died after falling on a trail. The search was suspended after Staples death.
Mokkapati’s remains were found on June 19th near the top of Fish Fork at the 7800-foot level by a couple of hikers. The Los Angeles County Sheriff department recovered the remains which were positively identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
