Inmates at Chino Mens and Womens Prisons Die from COVID-19

The Chino Institution for Men is reporting 13 COVID inmate deaths. Chino Instiution for Women has 1 reported inmate death. Statewide there are 15 deaths total from COVID-19.

CIM has 667 inmate COVID cases. 26 of those inmates have recovered. Over at CIW, there are 100 reported COVID cases. 62 inmates have recovered. 77 staff members have tested positive with 51 returning to work at CIM. 16 staff at CIW have tested positive with just 2 returning to work.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Secretary Ralph Diaz sent a memo to all staff last week reminding them to adhere to cleaning and social distancing protocols as well as the mandatory wearing of face coverings while on institution grounds.
