San Bernardino Sheriff officials announced a second inmate at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga has tested positive for COVID-19. The inmate is in isolation at the facility.
West Valley Detention Center saw its first case among an inmate in April. The department has not recently commented on the number of deputies that have tested positive for COVID-19.
Last month the department began releasing inmates over a controversial zero bail decision by the California Judicial Council. San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon has been very outspoken about the issue saying it compromises the safety and well-being of the county.
