Pomona Police Release Video of Officer Involved Shooting of Man with Sword

The Pomona Police Department has released video of an officer-involved shooting incident of an assault suspect who wielded a large sword at a Pomona Police officer. The suspect, 37-year-old Anthony Pacheco was shot by a Pomona Police officer on March 30th in the area of Reservoir and Third street. Pacheco was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

In the video, a Pomona Police officer responds to an assault with deadly weapon call. He contacts the victim who was head injuries. The victim directs the officer to the location of the suspect. As the officer locates suspect Pacheco and makes commands for Pacheco to put his hands up.  Pacheco begins advancing towards the officer, pulling a large sword from his waistband. You see the officer back up in the video and fire his gun. The suspect goes down and the officer calls for medical aid.

Police say the officer involved shooting is still under investigation by both their department and Los Angeles County Sheriff.
