LAPD officer Ismael Tamayo was arraigned in a San Bernardino courtroom Wednesday. Tamayo appeared via video link before Commissioner Ronald Gilbert on assault with a deadly weapon charges.
Tamayo was arrested on May 3rd after shooting one his friends during a camping trip in the desert. The friend was airlifted to a local hospital and has since been released. Tamayo was relieved of his LAPD police powers shortly after news of the arrest came out according to a statement released by LAPD Chief Michael Moore.
Commissioner Gilbert set Tamayo’s bail at $250,000. Tamayo’s attorney Greg Yacuoubian said would be working with Tamayo to meet the bail requirements. Tamayo’s next court appearance is May 11th.
